As explained on its Wikipedia page, 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die “compiles writings and information on albums chosen by a panel of music critics to be the most important, influential, and best in popular music between the 1950s and the 2010s.” WK Entries are accompanied by short essays by music critics alongside additional information such as album’s running times and producers. Excluded from consideration were various artist compilations and most soundracks.
It was first published in 2005 by Universe Publishing, although the link to the book on Amazon lists a 2006 publication date. The Wikipedia page lists other editions for 2010, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2021.
